The Government of Canada invests in communities and tourism diversification in Gaspésie

CED is granting nearly $4 million for 23 projects aimed at improving the Gaspé tourism offer and modernizing local community facilities.

Across the country, community spaces and tourist attractions have seen a significant fluctuation in use due to the pandemic. Important engines of the economy, they attract residents and visitors and support local businesses and jobs.

This is why the Honorable Diane Lebouthillier, MNA for Gaspésie–Les Îles‑de‑la‑Madeleine and Minister of National Revenue, on behalf of the Honorable Pascale St‑Onge, Minister of Sports and Minister responsible for CED, announced today contributions totaling $3,854,592 for 23 projects in Gaspésie.

These CED investments will enable beneficiary organizations and municipalities to launch their projects, upgrade their facilities, improve or modernize their tourism offering. Further information on the projects is available in the related information document.

The government of Canada recognizes and supports businesses and organizations that make their region proud, as well as municipalities, which play a key role in the well-being of communities across the country. Economic recovery depends, among other things, on a strong tourism industry with organizations rooted in the regional economy, and on the vitality of local communities and their shared spaces. These different actors are major contributors to economic growth and major assets for rebuilding a stronger, more resilient, greener and fairer economy for all.
