SQ spokeswoman Hélène Nepton said four skiers were involved in the incident and two were swept away by snow. The other two people were able to find them and dig them up.
The SQ said rescue teams reached the victims by snowmobile and transported the two victims to the nearest hospital in Saint-Anne-des-Monts, where one of them died. The other victim suffered minor injuries.
Nepton said she could not confirm where the four people were from or the ages of the victims, but confirmed the deceased was male.
